Scuba Diving and Snorkeling

Timor Leste is located at the end of the Indonesian archipelago, north of Darwin, Australia and at the base of the Coral Triangle, which hosts the highest diversity of coral and reef fish species on earth.

The country has some of the best scuba diving in the world, and this is a major draw for tourists. Both shore and boat diving in East Timor is rapidly becoming known worldwide amongst the diving community. Beaches are quiet and deserted while the coral reefs are pristine and undamaged by harmful fishing practices.

Trekking

Timor Leste offers excellent trekking inland. Mount Ramelau, the highest in the country, lies around 3000 metres above sea level. Keen walkers may also want to explore Ainaro, Mt. Matebian (Baucau) and Mt. Kablaki (in Same district). Tours can be arranged in Dili.

Trekkers may also be able to spot some of the 260 species of birds here, 32 of which are endemic and 8 of which are exclusive to the island of Timor and found nowhere else in the world.

Motorcycle and 4WD Tours

A great way to explore the stunning scenery that Timor Leste has to offer as well as experiencing the interesting culture is through a motorcycle or 4WD tour to some of the more remote areas of the country. Timor Adventures have several different options available:

  • Cultural/community tours where you travel in a 4 wheel drive.
  • Adventure motorcycle tours for those with their motorcycle license.
  • Customised tours for groups of three or more who have their own itinerary in mind with a special reason for visiting East Timor
